MIKE TYSON warned UFC superstar Conor McGregor it will be hard to “stay ready” with his current lavish lifestyle.
Tyson, a boxing legend, warned that McGregor’s lucrative fights for up to $40 million (£30.7 million) may make life so difficult for him that he might not even want to “get out of bed.”
As he grinds his way back to the octagon after an injury, The Notorious is known for living a life of luxury. He was recently named by Forbes as the highest-earning sportsperson for 2021.
The Irishman’s recent track record, though, hasn’t been as dazzling as his lifestyle, as he has lost three of his previous four fights.
On his HotBoxin podcast, Tyson said: “With that lifestyle, it’s difficult to stay prepared. If you’ve ever been in a $40 million battle, then we can chat afterward.
MIKE TYSON warned UFC superstar Conor McGregor:
“It’s difficult to get out of bed when you’ve been offered a $40 million fight and have that money the next week, only to be told that you have to fight in six weeks.
“In the end, you say, ‘How much money is it?'” ‘Give me $5 million more.’
McGregor has been out since breaking his leg in a devastating finish to his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July.
Georges St-Pierre, another UFC legend, issued similar warnings about the 33-year-obsession old’s with money.
“Conor McGregor’s stock is now going down,” St-Pierre stated.
“In the beginning, he was very high, and I don’t mean in terms of money or promotion, but rather in terms of status and rankings.” Now he’s losing ground, and his stock is dropping.
“There have been a few fights, and everything seems to be calming down a little.” There’s a chance he’ll come back, but I believe things aren’t going well for him right now. You need to alter some of his habits.”
