Conor McGregor appears to have lost the death instinct that propelled him to the top of the UFC since becoming one of the highest-paid athletes in the world. There was a time when no opponent ever stood a chance against him; you just knew he’d finish the fight in the first couple of rounds.
McGregor, on the other hand, committed his life to his riches after capturing belts in two different classes and being the first to do so. We are not condemning him for it; in fact, we applaud him. However, we strongly doubt he’ll ever return to the killer he once was, despite Conor’s belief that he can still make a comeback in the UFC.
Conor McGregor agreed to an interview with Sky Sports in Monaco, where he discussed his future plans. His comments still hold some promise, but he has a long way to go before convincing the public that he actually wants to return to the top. “Obviously, my comeback to the octagon for UFC will be in the octagon for UFC – that story is far from done, in fact, it is just beginning,” he stated.
“My body is in good shape. We’ll gradually increase the training after that. I should be able to kick at this point. In the coming days, I’ll get another CT scan. Then I’ll be able to kick again. I’ll be back in no time once I can kick and grapple. Strength training and boxing training are doing well. That is all there is to it. I’m looking forward to returning.”
Conor McGregor has a long way to go before he can return to the top of the UFC, and he has a lot of work to do in order to get there. First and foremost, he must concentrate solely on his training without being distracted. But the most difficult thing will be regaining his killer instinct, which he has definitely lost over the years.
We already know that talent is there, but athletes only gain that thirst for triumph when they truly want it. It’ll be a long road back to the top, but the man appears to be committed to getting there at some time. We’ll know if he’s serious about making a comeback when he gets his first fight.
