Ronaldo Loses Cool: During Al Nassr’s Saudi Pro League championship match against Al Ittihad, Cristiano Ronaldo was the centre of attention.
In the home of their title rivals, Al Nassr appeared to be holding on to a 0-0 draw, but a late goal from Romarinho gave Nuno Espirito Santo’s Al Ittihad the victory and overtook them at the top of the standings.
Since moving to the Middle East this winter, Ronaldo has scored eight goals in seven Saudi Pro League games. While videos of his goals have gone viral, so too has a video of his response to Thursday’s loss.
After defeating Al Nassr, Al Ittihad posted a video on Twitter with the tagline “Where is Ronaldo?” showing their star striker being tackled.
Ronaldo Loses Cool:
Nonetheless, Ronaldo endured teasing throughout the game. Almost 57,000 people turned out to support Al Ittihad at King Abdullah Sports City, and videos show supporters screaming Lionel Messi’s name to Ronaldo’s chagrin.
At the conclusion of the game, Ronaldo rushed off the field in frustration and wrath, kicking a water bottle onto the sidelines and hurling down the captain’s armband as he made his way back to the locker room.
Ronaldo failed to score for Al Nassr for the second game in a row, and with five games left, they now have a steep uphill struggle to win the Saudi Pro League.
