PSG Set Date: According to Rudi Garcia, Lionel Messi will likely make a comeback against Paris Saint-Germain when Cristiano Ronaldo makes his debut in Saudi Arabian football.
The Portuguese superstar, whose contract at Manchester United was cancelled, has teamed up with Al-Nassr. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been barred from playing for his new club due to a two-match suspension received during a trying time in England, but on January 19, when PSG is faced in an exhibition match, possibly with Messi and Kylian Mbappe in their travelling party, a debut of sorts will be made.
When asked about Ronaldo’s debut in the Middle East, Al-Nassr manager Garcia told reporters: “It (his debut) won’t be with the Al-Nassr jersey. Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr will be combined. I am unable to be pleased with this match as Al-head Nassr’s coach. To watch PSG and the great Parisian players is definitely beneficial for development. But three days later, we play in the championship game. It could have been planned out more carefully in terms of schedule. It’s not a big deal, though. Being in the lead makes us joyful. Although winning the championship is challenging, we plan to do it.
Ronaldo will miss a match against Al-Shabab on Saturday as he serves out a suspension for knocking a phone out of the hands of a young Everton supporter at Goodison Park. Last week, Ronaldo was forced to watch from a distance as Al-Nassr defeated Al-Ta’ee 2-0.
Ronaldo’s official Al-Nassr debut is scheduled for January 22 against Ettifaq. His new fan base is eager to see the 37-year-old after a flashy unveiling and much discussion surrounding his £173 million-per-year ($210 million) contract.
