Florentino Perez's thoughts on Ronaldo's Real Madrid comeback
Florentino Perez’s thoughts: The future of Cristiano Ronaldo in Al-Nassr has been in question, and if he leaves Saudi Arabia, Real Madrid has pushed him to go back there.
Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, has repeatedly claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo will eventually return to the club, despite dismissing the possibility of a transfer in 2022.
After leaving the Bernabeu in 2018, Ronaldo signed a club-record contract with Juventus. He stayed in Turin for three years before going back to his old team, Manchester United. As Ronaldo prepared to leave Old Trafford, talk of a second stint in Madrid was also raised, but Los Blancos decided against it.
The seasoned player just signed a lucrative contract with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. But the suggestion that he go back to Europe puts Perez’s earlier remarks into sharp relief.
“Cristiano has remained at the heart of all Madridistas,” Perez said in 2018 (as reported by The Sun in El Chiringuito). “If I saw him now, I’d give him a great hug; he’s Alfredo Di Stefano’s deserving successor.
He’ll eventually come back to Real Madrid, the president continued. Nevertheless, his attitude seemed to have changed four years later.
A new offer for Ronaldo in the summer of 2018 made Perez giggle. “Cristiano? Again? 38?” he questioned.
In 2022, Madrid allegedly disregarded numerous calls from Jorge Mendes, who was then representing Ronaldo. Ultimately, the veteran decided to join Al-Nassr despite claiming to have received offers from Europe.
Ronaldo remarked upon joining Al-Nassr, “I won everything, I played at the most prestigious teams and for me now it is a fresh challenge in Asia. “I’m a special player; I broke every record over there [in Europe], and now I want to break a couple more here. my is typical since my contract is unique and because I am unique.
With Al-Nassr challenging league leaders Al-Ittihad for the championship, Ronaldo has scored easily in the Saudi Pro League, finding the back of the goal 12 times. Rivaldo, a former Barcelona great, has urged the striker to return to Madrid despite allegations that he was “tricked” into making the lucrative trade.
Rivaldo is quoted by Diario AS as saying, “I understand that occasionally the players are fooled by the enormous deal they sign in Saudi Arabia. However, because of how far away life is there, things might not always go as smoothly for you in football.
Florentino Perez’s thoughts:
“He might therefore be going through a period of disappointment and possibly even contemplation. So perhaps the income he is receiving compensates for the less than ideal life he is currently leading.
“It would be beneficial for Cristiano Ronaldo and for football if he finished his career at Real Madrid. Fans must recognise that they cannot expect the same level of performance from him as they did when he was 25 or 26 years old, but he may still aid the team in further accomplishments.
